These "Guidelines" are based on the "Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals" formulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.ICMJE.org, updated 2025).

Manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines will not be accepted by the editorial board. Please carefully review all requirements before submitting your manuscript.

Manuscript Preparation

1.1 General Formatting Requirements

Text Formatting

The manuscript should be submitted in Russian or English and typed in MS Word:

  • Font: Times New Roman, size 14
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Margins: top – 2.0 cm; bottom – 2.0 cm; left – 2.0 cm; right – 2.0 cm
  • Numbering: All pages, starting from the title page, must be numbered consecutively

1.2 Article Length

Length Requirements
  • Full-length original article: 8–12 pages, including all sections except references
  • Review article: 12–15 pages
  • Case reports: no more than 8 pages

1.3 Manuscript Structure

Structural Elements

The manuscript must consist of the following elements:

  1. Title page with complete author and article information
  2. Abstract in Russian, English, and Tajik with keywords
  3. Main body must contain the following sections:
    • Introduction (relevance)
    • Aim of the study
    • Materials and Methods
    • Results
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion
  4. References, formatted in Vancouver style
  5. Tables and figures (if necessary)

Required Elements of the Title Page
  • Full article title in the language of submission, English, and Tajik
  • UDC (Universal Decimal Classification)
  • Initials and surnames of all authors
  • Official name of institutions and their location (city, country)
  • Shortened title for header (no more than 50 characters)
  • Keywords
  • Word count for main text and abstract separately

2.1 Author Information

For each author, provide:

  • Full last name, first name, and patronymic
  • Academic degrees and titles
  • Position and affiliation (institution name and department)
  • Postal code and full address
  • Contact phone numbers

2.2 Funding and Conflict of Interest

Declarations
  • Funding sources: grants, equipment, medications

3.1 Structured Abstract (for original articles)

Abstract Requirements
  • Length: 250-300 words in each language
  • Required sections:
    1. Relevance/Aim
    2. Materials and Methods
    3. Results (with specific data)
    4. Conclusion

3.2 Unstructured Abstract

For reviews, case reports
  • Length: at least 150 words
  • Content: Brief summary without section division

3.3 Keywords

Keyword Requirements
  • Number: 5-7 words
  • Selection: According to Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)
  • Indication: In all publication languages

4.1 Introduction

Introduction Structure
  • Brief literature review (publications from the last 5-10 years)
  • Relevance of the problem
  • Scientific novelty and practical significance
  • Controversial and unresolved issues
  • Clear statement of the study aim
  • Avoid: data and conclusions from your own study

4.2 Materials and Methods

Section Details

Study Design:

  • Type of study (prospective, retrospective, randomized, etc.)
  • Location and time of conduct

Study Participants:

  • Inclusion and exclusion criteria
  • Sample characteristics (age, sex, ethnicity)
  • Randomization (if applicable)
  • Sample representativeness

Research Methods:

  • Detailed description of methods for reproducibility
  • Equipment with manufacturer indication
  • Medications (international nonproprietary names)
  • Use of AI technologies (detailed description if applicable)

Ethical Aspects:

  • Ethics committee approval number
  • Compliance with the 2024 Declaration of Helsinki
  • Informed consent of participants
  • Data confidentiality

Statistical Analysis:

  • Software with version indication
  • Statistical methods
  • Significance level (usually p<0.05)
  • Confidence intervals

4.3-4.5 Results, Discussion, Conclusion

Remaining Sections

Results:

  • Logical sequence of presentation
  • Primary results first
  • Absolute numbers and percentages
  • Do not duplicate data from tables in the text

Discussion:

  • Brief summary of main findings
  • Comparison with literature data
  • Statistical and clinical significance
  • Study limitations
  • Avoid repeating data from the Introduction and Results sections

Conclusion:

  • Answers to the stated objectives
  • Concise and clear recommendations for improvement
  • Avoid unsubstantiated statements

Authorship Requirements

Authorship Criteria (ICMJE 2025)

An author is an individual who meets ALL FOUR of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data
  2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content
  3. Final approval of the version to be published
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work

5.1 Limitations

Authorship Limitations
  • Maximum number of authors: 8 for original articles, 6 for other types
  • In one issue: no more than 2 works by the same author
  • Students can be authors if they meet the criteria

5.2 Corresponding Author

Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility for communication with the journal
  • Ensures compliance with all requirements
  • Must be available throughout the publication process

Ethical Requirements

6.1 Clinical Studies

Study Requirements
  • Mandatory registration before the first participant is enrolled
  • Permissible registries: ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO ICTRP, national registries
  • Study protocol must be available

6.2 Patient Confidentiality

Patient Data Protection
  • Any identifying information is excluded
  • Masking faces in photographs is insufficient
  • Written consent if complete anonymization is impossible
  • Obscuring data on radiographs and other images

6.3 Animal Studies

Ethical Standards
  • Compliance with international standards for care and use
  • Approval by relevant committees
  • Minimization of animal suffering

6.4 Use of Artificial Intelligence

AI Requirements
  • Mandatory declaration of all cases of use
  • Detailed description in the appropriate section
  • AI cannot be an author or co-author
  • Verification of accuracy of all results obtained with AI

8.2 Figures and Photographs

Image Requirements
  • Quality: at least 300 dpi
  • Size: at least 80×80 mm (approximately 1000×1000 pixels)
  • Format: TIFF or JPEG (separate files)
  • Captions must be informative and self-explanatory
